Hi,I found an old post asking how best to do this but apparently it's too old to add to (2008).
The probem remains. Any ideas or new products out there to do a neat job?

If you mean fitting plastic trunking on a wall and the part with the tiles sticks out further than the rest, then there are a few options
a. Install larger trunking that required and trim the back off where it passes over the tiles
b. pack out the section of wall without tiles to the same level as the tiles using Foamex board or similar.
c. install deeper trunking on the wall and shallower over the tiles. Only works if the difference between the two is the same as the tile/wall difference.

I assume it is how to negotiate the step where the tiles begin.

Other than some intricate cutting and filling, I don't know.

Cutting the back of the trunking over the tiles doesn't sound like the best idea as it leaves you nowhere to fix to the entire way down.

I'd be inclined to look at stopping and starting the trunking at the tile line, but continuing the lid. This will obviously depend on how big the lip is as to whether it would work or not

Option b is the best solution IMO.

I have done this is the past, admittedly I used strips of wood as that was all that was readily available.

What do you mean, you "found" it?

You were the one who created it...

Hi, any ideas how best to lay trunking down a wall where the bottom half of the wall is tiled. i.e. hoew to negotiate the lip where the tiles start?
I have thought of fixing a slim piece of timber the same width as the trunking onto the plaster and then laying the trunking on top thereby removing the lip. However, before I start are there any other ideas/products out there?

The problem remains.

You've been trying to fix trunking to a half-tiled wall for the last 9 years?

Anyway, wood is probably better than Foamex for a thin strip.

If you have any companies near you who make/supply UPVC fascias, soffits, window boards etc, see what they do with their waste. One near me stacks it outside and is happy for people to make off with any bits of use to them, so you might find a suitable strip.

Thank god you're not any kind of tradesman.

I honestly don't remember posting this 9 years ago!
I promise you this is not the same diy job :sneaky:
Option b it is then but probably with ply and i will emulsion the ply to blend in with the wall.
Thanks all
