we had a power cut due to an unconnected electric appliance and when the power came back up we had a call engineer message, but our alarm is not supported. after some messing about we have managed to get the system back to open status, but it will not arm itself now tried various things - checked battery seems to have plenty of power but if we now power down the electric the battery does not kick in so we have definitely fuddled something up can anyone help please

690 is a great panel, what variant is it??

We have 100's of them out there, very very rare it'll let you down. Usually a battery fault will be indicated on the keypad, be it that or the fuse.

Hmmmm how did you get from Call Engineer to OPEN?

Playing in the menus randomly ? Random numbers?
Now it wont set, and it still needs a new battery.

So step one, new battery time.

But it should be saying battery or fuse fault as mentioned.
At the risk of more random button pressing what is in the logs?

The battery is fully charged - have a tester - may be confusing the issue with this - got the system from call engineer to open by going on walk through and view and removing tampers and resetting panic buttons - it wants to set but although all the alarms are healthy and active, it just will not arm Have not just randomly pressed buttons have read instruction book and websites and just gone through logical procedures, but something is out of zinc, if an alarm says call engineer when it has been activated do they need to reset the system in one of the engineer menus before it will rearm does anyone know?

checked battery and fuse both fully functional - will allow every user function to be accessed - we do have 2 part alarms set on a and b and it is trying to set but there is no message as to why it is unhappy.

exact problem when you try to enter code will accept then says menu 1 select function which ordinarily would be 0 for full set it will just kick back to system open

if you try to part set a it asks if you wish to part set you press enter or a and it just kicks back to system open any ideas anyone please

checked battery and fuse both fully functional
A healthy battery voltage is no indication that there is any capacity available, in the same way that fumes smelt in your fuel tank is no indication that petrol exists!

We're not getting the full story here, why you resetting tampers/panic buttons?? What tampers are you resetting?

If you view ccts, they ALL should be healthy (the ones that are used) bar maybe an ET button if fitted.

You cant clear down an engineer reset via a customer code, or what ever you said you've done.

Tap in your code, ent, then press 3. Whats it say then?

in answer to above question say press ent to select function if do nothing goes back to system open.

in answer to another question just made sure all active cct's are healthy and it was when we kicked off the panic button it seemed to clear system.

the system is open everything is healthy but it will not set - think next step is to get new battery as that can never hurt but appreciate all advice thanks

can i just ask if the battery is faulty will the alarm the alarm set or not?

where would it tell me that the battery is not working
