Tumble dryer vent - louvred or not?

Can i use a louvred vent for a tumble dryer outlet?
Back of pack says no but don't know why. I want to use louvred as hooded vents keep being broken by my boys playing footy
The pipe from tumble dryer to wall has about 3ft to reach (with a bend in it).
Any help/insight/advice gratefully received.

louvred ones rattle annoyingly in the wind, and then the flaps break off. They are more easily damaged than your cowelled vent.

I prefer cowelled vents. Some of them are made of a more resilient plastic, not the hard shiny one that cracks. See if you can find a polycarbonate one, or one that you can flex a bit in your hands.

Get another, and a vent cover or wire mesh guard for it, such as is sometimes sold for boiler flues, or else deduct the price of each new vent from your boys' pocket money and they will become more careful.

the Universal Vent shown is very strong, but has no protection against wind, rain or insects.

For some reason the resilient ones I have had are brown or black, and the hard shiny ones white or grey.
