Hello,

I am a self employed hairdresser looking to convert my detached garage at home in to a salon.

Extrenally this wont change the look of the house/garage at all.
I am 99% sure I will get planning, but there is a small issue...

After checking my Deeds of the Land Registry there is a covenant to say that I cannot use any outbuildings for any other purpose than storing motor vehicles.

My house is an ex council house, the council were taken over by Sovereign Housing Group some years back.

Can anyone please advise me on how to go about getting past this problem?

Thankyou :o)

you need to find who imposed the covenant and see if they still think it applies

you will have to comply with building regs for insulation fire access head clearance and possibly disabled access

This will also be a planning issue regards running a business from the address.

Parking will be an obvious issue.
