Hi guys

Just a quick question, I am replacing a sink and taps tomorrow. They have a mega flow system what is the best way to turn off the hot water while I sort out the hot tap pipe?

Thanks

due you mean just turn the cold off? or will there be a tap to turn the hot off as well?

are there any service valves on the hot tap ensure your hot water demand is off well in advance to cool the system make sure it cant be turned back on untill done . turn off main stop cock turn off service valve and disconnect if no service valve open tap and another higher in system to drain out off you go .when done turn both taps off turn on main stop cock open lower tap first to fill pipework then higher one till air expelled.

so in other words, turn off the stop cock......do the work, turn it on again.

Look at the hot supply pipe coming off the top of the cylinder - if you're lucky there might be a valve on that, which would cut the hot but leave the customer with cold water. Megaflo's also have an isolator on the combination valve, it's a small black quarter turn level (or at least it is now, not sure about much older ones). This will kill off the balanced cold as well if the customer has it, but depending on how it's been piped they will probably still have cold water to the kitchen tap.

The service valves need moving hence the need to turn everything off.

Thanks

Ah right. Well look for the combination valve next to the cylinder, if that kills all hot and colds except the kitchen sink then you can happily get on with your work and the customer can still fill the kettle

EDIT: Unless by sink you actually mean the kitchen sink and not a basin somewhere, in which case this won't really help, so just use the main stopcock
