UK Gov wants Apple users data

What I hadn't realised is that this seems to be all about iCloud data. I thought it was about messages. But it looks like messages are still end to end encrypted and can't be read. Not my area of expertise because I hardly use tech.

I think I have the answer now!

It might also include messages. The messages themselves are end to end encrypted. But if they are backed up to iCloud, then the level of encryption for those messages will depend on the encryption setting in iCloud. So my advice for any terrorists who can't live without the latest iPhone is to turn off iCloud.

Imagine your relatives were caught up in one of the bombings.

Surely you would want the Govt to be able to get information from the bomber's devices?

The Govt wouldn't have free reign to surveill everyone willy nilly, they would need to apply to a court with reasoning.
It's all as simple as this.

Free speech and privacy means you have to allow EVERYBODY that right, including organised crime, terrorists etc.

The resources arent there to be interested in everybody, it's just the few that need such resources.

Read my messages to aunt flo if you want, no issue.
