I was surprised when they opened a station on the Thames in or near London as I couldn't see the demand by people messing about on the river however it went on to become one of their busiest stations.

Mrs Mottie lost count of the DNA (Did Not Attend) letters she typed telling the GP that their referral didn’t turn up for the consultation as they were back in their home country - and these were people on Hep B tablets where a 30 day course cost over £100 per tablet!

No Mottie, no! There are official government releases that say this doesn't happen.

There wasn't frictionless freedom of movement between Europe and UK. It was still necessary to show valid criteria to enter UK, and Europe.

So Mrs Mottie works at a loosely run GP practice, where new patients without an NHS number register, and don't turn up for appointments.
I imagine in a more tightly controlled GP Practice certain processes are followed, to ensure that new patients without an NHS number are properly vetted. And when they don't turn up for appointments, they're removed from the registrer.
