UK PM Theresa May announces plan to call snap general election on 8 June

there are two reasons why an in-office politician avoids public debate:

- In the public's eye, it gives the people speaking against her equal status. She wants to keep the mystique of being boss and to treat other leaders with contempt (as performed also in Parliament). The right-wing press works very hard to portray other parties as ineffectual nutters, and the uncritical voter believes what he is told.

- It avoids her having to engage in serious, searching discussion with well-informed and well-prepared people who are not dazzled by her position.

This Snap General Election will be a Referendum for Brexit and Indy Ref 2 (In Disguise).

May does not want to be dragged into any Public Debates at this time as this could scupper leaving the EU, at the moment the Tory party do not have a Plan "A" "B" or "C", The last thing the people of this Country need to know is how the Tory Party is really going to plan this Countries Future
She is hoping that Corbyn is so disliked so "Floating Voters" will back her up,

In a Debate Corbyn would tear her to shreds ( the last thing she wants)
The voting Boundary Changes are not in place at moment so this will not help her
A vote for her means the Country is totally behind her, she is taking a Gamble The majority vote for Brexit was only 7%

Oh sorry, didn't realise. I thought it was Corbyn, Farron and the bitter wee Kranky Scotch bitch that wanted the debate?

I suspect TM will prefer an empty chair rather than expose herself to critical assessment of real politics.

Is that real leadership?

Here you see a party leader walking in conversation with a WW2 veteran to lay a wreath at the Cenopath.

The right-wing press (Mail and Sun) published shamelessly cropped photos and claimed that he was dancing a jig in disrespect of the Remembrance Day ceremony.

The Mail Online story was headlined: “Is this really the day to audition for Strictly, Jeremy? Corbyn appears to dance a jig at the Cenotaph as he waits for the Remembrance Day parade.”

The Sun’s headline said: “Jeremy Corbyn dances his way down Downing Street as he attends Remembrance Sunday.”

It should be unbelievable that even these gutter publications publish false stories to mislead the citizens and voters.

Sadly there are people willing to believe these organs.

They probably even believe the Bent Bananas hoax, which I noticed the Torygraph revived the other day.

Anyway, it's all perfectly clear. The next election will be in 2020. Theresa will not call a snap election. No "ifs," no "buts." Let me be perfectly clear about that. Absolutely certain. The next general election will be in 2020.

And the reason for the election is, er, um....

Tortuous logic there bragidear.
Have you never heard of like-minded individuals?
Or even "great minds think alike"?

If you were so great, you wouldn't be sat where you are now, jacking off on GD, while the object of your scorn is being Prime Minister.......

Bob Rotella (psychologist) told a story about an clinic hosted by Jack Nicklaus.
(You'll have to forgive the exact detail, as the book is on a shelf that I am nowhere near).
Jack said that he'd never missed a putt inside of four feet on the final green, to win a major.
A guy in the audience took umbrage with Jack on this particular "fact", even offering to send a video to prove him wrong in his recollection.
Jack declined the offer.

Afterwards, the questioner asked Bob why Jack had totally forgotten (or mislead himself) on the missed putts.

"What is your handicap?", Bob asked the questioner.

"16. Why?"

"Why do you think that the greatest golfer who has ever lived, should think the same way that a 16 handicapper should?"
