Ukraine counter offensive

Western F16s will be an easy target for Russian air defenses.
Bakmoot has just been smashed by a group of ex convicts and drunks who call themselves wagner.
No mention of it on here I see nor in western msm.
Must be a huge embarassment after all the weapons the west has pumped in.

Given the state of the Russian kit
I
Doubt they have any thing to shoot down an F16

They do have expertise in shooting Down air liners though

As for Bakmut it has been reported on the news

Ukraine state they are still fighting there as do other sources

Try the British Broadcasting Corporation, quite a well known one, in fact it's headlining the main page. (y)

F16s are old gen kit. Russian anti air is pretty decent and they do have lots of it.

What the F16 does is give Ukraine more Air superiority fighters to intercept cruise missiles and as launchers for alternatives to Storm Shadow.

Plus it's another gentle step on the 'Give Ukraine top end kit' ladder.

As of 2020 Russia currently fielded 29 regiments equipped with the S-400 system, each regiment had three battalions
Each battalion consisted of a command truck, a panoramic radar truck, a technical support truck, 12 launchers [4 missiles each], and 6 multipurpose radars.
Each regiment has additional support units and often additional high-altitude radars, passive radar detection to identify stealth aircraft, and en electronic warfare system to prevent enemy missiles from locking on.
At the divisional level, the older S-300 systems could be patched in as well.
So, we are talking about 29 regiments, 87 battalions, 522 launchers, and 2,088 missiles.
Production was vastly increased and technically improved since 2020.
Best you quote your sources, newboy.
Er, if you haven't seen a wide range of descriptions of what's been going on in Bakhmut, in the media, you aren't looking.
And do let us know how many long range Himars salvos would it take to knock out key elements of those batallions. A command truck in that one, a PRT in the next...

system to prevent enemy missiles from locking on
That depends how many years behind their technology is. If it isn't quite new enough, their radar doesn't quite survive.

.

Ukraine's air defences are in dire trouble though. If R's jets get through they'll wreak havoc. Could swing either way?

All
Made in Russia yes exactly

the same country that equipped saddam with his air defences

One thing that the west can take from this entire caper is exactly how
***s poor the Russian military actually is

Logistics
Air support
Supply
Training

Jeez us and the Ukraine is actually on there border

Pointless looking at bbc news regarding ukraine.
It isn't pointless, but you seem to be suggesting that's the only place anyone other that you is looking.
That would be rather silly of you?

Bakmoot has been smashed and like mariopol and soledar will probably take a few weeks or even months before the hateful ultra nationalist ukranian regime admits its lost.
Massive numerical advantage in arms and men, and that little town has taken them months to flatten, and they haven't got the Ukes to withdraw yet. They never even managed to blow up the road going in and out from the western side. You have to admit that's a pathetic effort.

Yes we know they say things like that, but we aren't stupid.
It isn't pointless if you apply intelligence and knowledge. . You sound like a troll.

Phil6 - Why did Putin fail to take Kyiv and depose the Ukrainian president in Feb 2022 as expected?

BBC News has a bit more on the Russian defences and you can see from this illustration...

...why the Wagner Group has fought like rats to take the city.
It'd be madness to occupy the city, if Russian claims to have successfully encircled Bakhmut are true, and further attacks to the east will be important to hold the line and push on into eastern Donetsk.

Those F-16s are old but updated with modern missiles and software will be a significant advantage over the battlefield. The question is; will the Russians send their fighters to intercept them, or not?

Looks like poo tin has an issue with what has been referred to as sabateurs in
Some border town in Russia ??? That has been attacked ??

Now the Wagner Bunch have pulled out of Bakhmut, you can see how much destruction they've left behind here - reconstruction will take many years. It looks like Ypres in 1917; not a tree left standing. :(
A synopsis of the new weapons Ukraine has at its disposal for the counter offensive is here - but omits the recent donation of F-16 fighter jets from America.

One of the concerns the Ukranians have or will have ??? May be

Is if that fruit cake Trump gets back into power ?????
