Putin wants to recreate the Russian Empire which made colonies of neighbouring countries.

His replacement might not have the same desires and may be busy with a civil war and a collapsed economy.

As is usual with despots, there is no popular alternative surviving. All other candidates have fallen out of windows or been in plane accidents. Many generals have died in Uraine.

Russia's population is dwindling by about a million a year and is particularly short of young men between 15 and 35. As the war continues, numbers of educated or skilled men fearing the draft have found work in other countries, and I expect some have developed bone spurs or other disabilities.

I don't know what Motorbiking meant. I meant, after what Putin has done by invading and taking some of Ukraine, it is unlikely that the Western powers that be are thinking 'yeah we can leave Russia as one big nation because it poses no threat'. They'll be looking to weaken it when the opportunity arises and one surefire way to do so is to split it into smaller countries/states to break it up.
