Howdy,

The pullcord light under the stairs stopped working today. It felt as if the "clicker" wasn't working. I removed the fitting and cleaned up the internals, and the switch "clicker" is now working.

I replaced as I found it (or so I thought) but the light is not working now. I have red in com and black in L1 with earth going into a terminal block in the fitting. That's all the wiring that exists. L2 is empty then.

I've checked the fuse, and the bulb - no obvious problem with either.

On the basis of everything I have said above.......anyone have an idea of what might be amiss?

And following on........there is a fan on the bathroom wall but it's never worked. I've never felt sufficiently curious to investigate (and we've been in 12 yrs). I guess my **** don't stink that bad.

Very grateful for any advice.

You need to check continuity between the terminals.

If ok, then problem is elsewhere.
If not, then either have another go or buy a new switch.
