I have been looking on the structural calculations for a timber frame first floor extension that will have hung tiles on all external walls. Is there something I should be able to see that would tell me the load that would be put on the concrete trench foundation and confirm the foundations are adequte? The foundation goes down 1.1m and is about 450mm wide and supporting the first floor front middle and rear there will be steel beams going across which will rest on engineering brick padstones either side.
The picture below shows what is currently there and it is the all brick wall gable end that will have one end of the steel beams resting on. The brick wall is a single skin wall.

Here is a picture of the foundation when we had a dig done and the soil is clay that is quite firm:

    Why not ask the SE?

Not available at the moment. Just to add that BC signed off the plans with the calcs so all that remains is when the job starts is for a trial dig to be done for BC to inspect.

What did you actually ask to be calculated? The frame, racking? Foundation loading?

Don't most people ask for calculations to support their BR app and leave it at that? As in, "Here, Mr BCO, is my BR application, including SE's calcs."

No. There needs to be a point to having calculations in the first place. Most construction is tried and tested and does not need to be proved by calculation.

My structural engineer gave me two documents. One document had everything a builder needs to know (lintel specs, padstone specs, foundation details, etc.) and the other had the calculations. I'm pretty sure there should be some calculations.

For a domestic extension the stability and load bearing capacity of the ground is the critical element.

What is the soil type and are there trees within the zone of influence?

It is clay soil which is quite firm and there are no trees nearby.

So, you're saying that every extension needs ground capacity bulb test? Calculations for every extension? o_O
