I hope this is the correct section to post in.

I am trying to set up my Unifi6 AP. I have connected it to my switch and it powers up. After a rest it flashes blue then white then solid white as i understand it should.

I then connect ia the Unifi app. It doesnt recognise the AP automatically so i have to add manually. I scan the QR code and it starts to connect. Most times it then just fails. It has a few times recognised it and tried to set up a local network but then continues and fails.

I have seen this issue online on a number of sites but with no resolution.

I believe these units are now very common so i am hoping someone will know how to resolve this issue.

It sits in Networking and the Unifi forums maybe a better place to ask the question.

Is this a new device or second-hand?

Have you defaulted the device?

Are you powering with a POE switch and is the POE switch if used capable of delivering the power it needs?

Seen a lot of second-hand devices on a market place that dont appear to work properly and some are not recoverable.

I purchased it new 2 years ago and have only just got round to setting it up so new.

The POE switch recognises that it is drawings power and the AP lights up so i cant see the power as being the issue.

Different switches have different capabilities in terms of power it can deliver per port and overall. I can’t see the Unifi using more than 15W but haven’t checked the units requirements or its manual.

I can’t see what you do or don’t have connected to your switch, I don’t know if it’s a managed switch or not, all of which has a bearing on what might be going on.

A managed switch for example you can see that it’s in the correct power mode and the power it’s supplying.

I can’t attempt to help you if you don’t provide information requested.

It’s new but been sat in a box for 2 year,

It’s a networking question, rather than phone/alarm cctv question.

I know on a networkI was dealing with recently it said that many of the unify units use 24V and not 48V and there Poe switches automatically set to the appropriate settings but I am not a networking expert and not familiar with the full range of products from Unifi.

I ended sorting their networking issues out because of the cctv and alarm they had and their network was a mess.

So you maybe need to go to a networking forum preferably the Unifi section as I also read that that Unifi have some unique features// querks that are not generic setup criteria across brands.

Defaulting the device should cause no harm and should ensure that there basic quick setup instructions should work.

So the lights should indicate at the switch and the unit end what is going on to some degree.

What’s the switch connected to and can you see the device on your network with say Fing or advanced up scanner?
