Hi all,

Hoping someone might be able to offer some advice here or have had a similar experience.

I am doing my bathroom and have this random (what looks like a pipe) sticking out the wall. Previous owner did classic landlord job and just painted over it so it's not clear what it is despite taking some material away from around it.

Property is an old Victorian maisonette in London - any suggestions welcome! Would I be safe to cut and remove?

As above, might be a gas pipe, especially in a Victorian property - they had gas lighting fittings, often mounted on the walls. You need to ascertain whether, or not, it is live, as a priority.

Could be a supply for a gas wall lamp, or more likely a wall mounted water heater - geyser.
Found a nice supply of lead gas pipes in the first floor of my daughters 1930's house when installing pipework for radiators a while back.

Thanks - how did you end up dealing with them? Were they connected/live?

could be a glory hole and that may not be a pipe
