Hi

I've just come across an unusual cylinder.

It is a combination cylinder
It has 2 immersions (not Econ 7)
Direct

It has 2 22mm pipes half way up and lower down, that look like some sort of feed and distribution. These appear to come off the mains - v small expansion vessel, tundish & some sort of bypass.

Doesn't appear to have any other hot outlet.

Anyone know what type this is???

Sorry to be vague - never come across it before.

It sounds like a thermal store to me!

Make and model, plus a pic would help.

It may be tank in tank.

Thanks agile - yes it's a thermal store

As I don't have an unvented cert. I wasn't sure when I saw the expansion vessel.

All this cylinder needs is one of the immersions replacing, so not a problem.

Thanks again

yes on the mains cold some have a mini expansion vessel on em seen quite a few.cant remember the cylinder make. think it was mcdonald engineering.

Presumably because the mains cold that sits in the coil becomes hot and expands... I saw a small one on a thermal store also...

As the thermal store is open vented then you can work on them as required without a G3 Certificate.

But we haven't ascertained that it is a thermal store

The DPS Pandora uses an expansion vessel. You can thus install it in a cellar without a drain connection.
