On my UPVC back door the spring has broken on the handle. Can I replace this spring & how. The lock appears to be part of a complete brass locking system with alot of phillips & other screws holding it all in place.

Undo both screws holding handles on and pull em off, you should then expose the spindle and the spring cassette (if fitted)......

Usually its the spring in the mechanism thats failed and that can be costly.
