US tarrifs. 10% U.K., 20% EU.

Maybe time to buy?

I've listened to Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger.

They've not done too badly with their investments, over the years.

Seeking "intrinsic value" is an investment strategy that has served them well.

In contrast to speculation on stocks and "companies" that are predominantly "Emperor's new clothes".

99% of sweet fa. Proof that the tariff algorithm is based on trade deficit?

It definitely is based on the trade deficit. There have been scathing analyses in the Telegraph and Guardian. It is utterly absurd. Say a very poor country only exports a basic product, such as fruit, to the USA. And because it is a poor country, it can't afford to import any US goods. Such a country would now be hit with the highest level of tariffs by the USA. So the poorest countries get hit hardest.

Buffet is such a success he doesn't count anymore. He gets offered special deals to get him to invest as his stamp of approval itself can make/save/close a deal.

Come on let’s see you provide evidence of this “trade war with the U.K
You have a short memory Notch.

The EU tried to restrict vaccines being sent to the UK among other things.
Barnier and co were all mouth until Putin sent his army into Ukraine to restore order.

Wasn’t a trade war was it?

It was to stop vaccines being diverted into the UK

Barnier and co were all mouth until Putin sent his army into Ukraine to restore order

I expect Trump is going to be very busy sorting out deals over the next few weeks that are in Americas favour.
Or, 'backing down' as some on here would call it.

Lirefighter is a full paid up MAGA cultist.

No sensible person would post such shallow Trump propaganda

Nobody really knows what Trump is after. He has said that he will drop the tariffs if countries offer something "phenomenal". But what can a country which is desperately poor like Lesotho offer. Because of Trump's mad formula, they have been hit with a 50% tariff.

Are the tariff changes affecting your business in any way?
Too soon to tell. JLR have just announced they’re pausing shipping to the USA so that will affect their investment plans which in turn will affect us, but no idea to what extent.

It’s the uncertainty that will be the problem. People sitting on their hands waiting to see what happens will be a problem for us, exactly as it was last year with the election.

It’s the uncertainty that will be the problem.

Definitely. Being unpredictable might sound like a good idea to some, but businesses hate it. They are looking at decisions which can cost tens of billions on timescales of up to a decade.

Republicans on the Hill will be the judge of Trump's forty year odyssey to bring his vision of American greatness to pass - a man who couldn't make money from a casino...what could possibly go wrong.
