Morning all.

Not sure which forum this is best for, so I thought I'd start here.

Can anyone see anything wrong with using artex to fill chased cable channels (over capped cables of course)?

My experience of artex is that 1) I hate it as a decorative coating. however 2) It makes a good, cheap filler.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Jim

From an electrical point of view, nothing wrong with this.

Using capping/channelling isn't compulsory, but can make it easier to fill.

If the purpose of the capping is so you can withdraw cables at a later date, then be sure to take the capping tight to the back box and to the ceiling, otherwise the Artex will stop you from being able to do this.

If the purpose of the capping is so you can withdraw cables at a later date, then use conduit.

How much does artex cost?

You can buy 25KG of plaster for about a fiver.

£3.70p at the local builders.

MUCH MUCH more at the likes of B&Q!
