What do you guys think of this idea?

I think its a good one, very cheap solution too. I just don't know how i'm going to keep the foil in place so that if there are heavy winds or rain, it doesnt get detached.

you can buy specialised stuff made for the job
consider a shade sail that sits OVER the roof

yeh it is much more expensive though.

the shade sail-will that reflect heat waves? i am thinking to use this foil stuff because i know it reflects heat effectively.

i wonder if there is a way to lay some kind of internal fascia in the conservatory to make it more like a normal room. im always getting insects coming in though, it is really annoying and i dont know how they are getting in.

I would have thought that greenhouse shade netting would be cheaper and easier than strips of foil - it's also permeable, so less of a problem with rain and wind, then just take it down at the end of the 'too hot' season

Excellent idea. Would it do the job if I fitted it ok the inside of the roof?

Knock it down and build an extension.

Andy
That's exactly what I have just done at mine. However, 'twas me who put the foundations in so I didn't have to start from scratch.

Connies are shoite - end of.
