I don't understand your post. Hot water does not modulate anything. Can you please explain, with punctuation?

boiler not going to low flame on hot water

And what is happening to the temperature of the hot water?

The more detail you give us the more likely we can give you an idea of the problem!

Tony

hot water hot then cold as burner going on and of instead of modulating.i mainly work on vokeras if they dont modulate to low flame it is usually flue venturi or gas pressures ;but do not know much about vailients with thanks dmac1

Also note that by mis-spelling 'Vaillant' you're messing up the threading of the forum: no-one will find your posts if they search for Vaillant!

There's a gas shop in Watford with "Valliant" prominently displayed in the window

Dmac - the modulation on a 242e is controlled by a 24vac pump which is built like an aquarium aerator pump and is situated in the bottom rear of the electronics box

There could be a neoprene pipe split

best first to monitor the voltage to the pump from the electronics which comes off the thermostatic control board IIRC

I think the 242e is the first version of the Turbomax VUW 242e, not the older VCW 242 EH which has the pneumatic (air pump) modulation system. Can the poster confirm that the control panel is black plastic with green knobs?

WHat have you checked - does the voltage change properly on the gas valve, is the minimum burner pressure adjusted properly..? (assuming its a turbomax)

A bit of sludge in the primary of the dhwhe/sensor makes them cut off instead of down because they get too hot - like other combis.

boiler is v.c.w gb 242e no green knobs i take it must be older model. i will see if i can get through to valliant technical thanks to everybody who replied dmac1
