Have a prob. Cental heating comes on when external timer is off, timer checked and is OK. Central heating can only be switched on or off by switch on boiler. Have replaced both circuit boards and micro switches on water section in boiler with spares all to no avail , help!

Could be flow valve on left hand side of boiler silver approx 12 inches long is faulty couple of micro switches on top could be stuck in heating position. also if boiler is set for preheat and valve is stuck mid way between heating and hot water this will allow rads to heat. At least 9 out of ten faults on the old valiant sine range where mechanical as opposed to electrical very reliable boards on these boilers

Found problem was sticking pin on water section stuck in the up position, pushed it up and down a few times and sprayed a bit of grease on it. All seems Ok now but will strip it down when the weather is a bit warmer and I can turn the boiler off. By the way do I need to drain the central heating system to remove the water section?

You have replaced 2 circuit boards and microswitches on water section to find the fault was a stuck spindle????????
Another person willing to spend a fortune on guesswork.
tut tut.

BDL you should have added 'but unwilling to call a pro to repair the boiler'. Bound to have cost less than unecessary part changes

Aljay are you a heating engineer or just tinkering with boilers. Have seen your post on Baxi 108e (should read 105E)
