Dear All

Yesterday my good friend rang me to let me know his heating engineer cousin is visiting him. He can look at my boiler. He checked the boiler and bleed the system. He said air has got into system.

Now the boiler is not as bad as it was yesterday in that the kettling noise has disappeared but both CH & DHW is piping hot. I have turned the temperature controls down but no difference. Can you experts tell me which component(s) is causing this. Help will be greatly appreciated.

what did he check on the boiler?

Nath

He isolated CH, then he drained off the main HE. The pressure gauge was on ZERO.

He changed the expansion vessel to 1 bar.

He then opened the CH circuit valves and adjusted the pressure to 1.5 bar. Fired the boiler calling for heat as soon as the rads started to heat up. He then asked me to open the kitchen sink HW tap (closest to boiler)

Both circuits function OK and not kettling noise from the boiler. He then assured me everything was OK and left.

This morning I went back to boiler to check if the pressure had held. it had dropped slightly to just above 1.0 bar and I noticed that the rads are hotter and the HW taps are also hotter.

I tried lowering the HW temperature but it has made no difference.

Please help!

sounds to me that the rubber hose to the left of the main heat exchanger is blocked/restricted.

A slight squeeze will confirm.
