unfortunately the vat goes back to normal

I don't think it will have all that big an effect small expenditure, but certainly on those spending in the thousands.

I mean, if you really liked a £70 pair of shoes and the retailer says they are going to cost you an extra £1.75 in the new year i'm sure it will not deter most folk.

What it will mean is the kids in the sweatshops get "paid" less for making them

The vat rate should never have been reduced, in my opinion it did little to help the economy, now that it's going back up, it's like a double hit, as it probably won't stay at 17.5% for long.

Tories will promise to drop it as soon as possible in an effort to win the election but the time will never be right and it will go up to 22% to help the defence budget.

Just more work for us that work in shops. When VAT went down, it was a sudden thing. So we had little time to prepare and we had to replace every shelf edge label in the shop. Great.

This time, going up, the company is doing it a department at a time, so as to reduce workload on us.

It was a waste of time anyway. People dont notice 2.5%! If it were 25% they might.

Restraurants didnt reduce there prices when vat went down, wonder if they will go up now

i wonder how many people thought they where being short changed when they only got around 2.2 percent taken off
