Had a nightmare with this
Cut out last night and had to get recovered to a garage
Basically they think the time chain has slipped/snapped. Until further investigations don’t know how bad things are but doesn’t look good.
Thing is van has only done 56000k. It’s 7 years old but I think this is ridiculous.
Have I just been unlucky and what’s the prognosis cost wise you think?

Unfortunately there is a lot of engine work needed here just to ascertain what the damage is, if you see what I mean......the timing chain issue will have to be rectified and then the engine tested to see if any of the valves are bent in the cylinder head.
Assuming the initial diagnosis is correct, of course!
It's a dreadful scenario and I very much doubt if you'd get a sympathetic ear from Vauxhall.
If it was mine, I'd see if an independent garage could fit a replacement S/H engine for you - if you want to hang on to the van.
John :)
