Hi,

I'm planning to install one of the above, from the Solo Plus range. I have a few questions I hope someone can help me with.

The noise level is 40.3 decibels. How does this relate to real life? The fan will be just the other side of a dividing wall from a bedroom.

The Solo Plus range doesn't quite give me what I want - an adjustable overrun timer with pullcord operation. At least without paying for a built-in humidistat and timer delay. The basic model just has a pullcord - is there a stand-alone timer I could wire in?

(I have emailed Vent-Axia to ask if the Solo Plus models are suitable for wall installation with the backdraught shutter facing into the prevailing wind).

Or would I be better off with an inline centrifugal fan rising up into the loft with the shutter facing down in the soffit?

The Solo range is reasonably quiet. It will also depend on the wall covering. If its plasterboard do and dabbed onto brickwork then the wall will act like a sounding board.

Sound levels are a matter of opinion.

Look at the ICON range of fans, they are more expensive but have a range of add-in modules. Like a Humidity Controlled Pull Cord Timer Module

I didn't realise that plasterboard cavities would act as a sounding board. That's made my mind up - I'll go for an inline unit venting through the soffit.

Many thanks.
