Ventilation of blocked up chimneys

Got two redundant Chimneys in our house, both have been boarded up and decorated over,reading some of the threads on here,should these chimneys be vented somehow?

Yes, they should be vented in to the room

i would recommend using a 9" x 6" hit and miss louvred vent to allow air into the chimney.
