Been asked to fit some fans in a clubhouse toilets. When asked about where they were to be vented I was told into the roof space. I said I thought that was contrary to building regs, but was told that the architect said it was ok.
Can anyone tell me who's right here, and can give me ammunition I need to go back with, if I'm right?
I'm not doing the work yet but would appreciate having the right information to hand when I do.

It certainly isn't as bad as having a fan with moisture i.e. from a shower rm venting up into the loftspace, they could end up with nasty smells coming back into the clubhouse via any gaps in the ceiling etc though.

assuming theres insulation i would say its probably a bad idea as the warm air that gets drawn in from throught the building will cause dampness in the loft space which may or may not be cleared by the normal ventilation so have a look up there for wet timbers

the surveyor may have said vented via the roof but wouldnt think into the roof its just bad practice

flexable pipe from the fans output to a vent in the gable end or under sofit, if theres room, otherwise its time to get a roofer to install a 'vent tile' in the roof.
