Does anybody have any info on ventilation requirements for vertex flue installations?
In particular the required air vents for the loft area?

The compartment vents are also taken from the loft space.

Thanks in advance.

sorry can give info inside the cc or give me your gas safe and i will tell you over the phone

All I can say is that you should see the boiler ventilation requirements for the compartment and see the Vertex manufacturer's requirements for air inlet requirements.

Most older lofts are very well ventilated and any newish ones complying with building regs are well ventilated as well.

A spillage test needs to be done on the air inlet in the loft with the hatch closed.

Better discussed in the cc.

ventilation requirements should be in the manufacturers instructions

whats the point cc as everything can be read if you know where to look

All info can be gotten hold of , whether right or wrong i can't comment , being a RGI doesn't always mean we should be privvy to information , there is a law in place that says only if competent should we work on gas , shouldn't stop joe bloggs wanting to further his/her education.

i dont see why you think it should be in the CC? Ventilation requirements are clearly written in the MIs which lots of customers have, or at least "should" have. If a customer asked me a query like this one I would just tell them the requirement from the manual and let them get on with it.

The boiler is an existing ideal classic 30nf, the MI's are missing. The compartment has high and low vents ducted into the loft space for cooling.
The vertex flue obviously needs it' own air for combustion taken from the loft space but I need to work out the amount of ventilation required, is there a way of doing this?
The flue pulls fine but BG have cut off the boiler and simply told him the loft requires an air duct.

Vertex flues where developed for thorn/myson Apollos, have never heard of them being suitable for classics . I would be checking up on suitability first and wether allowed.

Have tried to get MIs for you but cannot find anywhere.

Best advice is ring Ideal Technical and either request literature (unlikely still available) or for the dimensions for your RGI to fit appropriate grills - or get him to ring :)

I dont know why you think that!

My house here has a Classic fitted with a Vertex flue!

I would expect the ventilation requirement is probably fairly close to that for an open flue.

Since ventilation is part of the combustion process then I would say it should be discussed in the cc.

Since the OP seems to be an RGI thats even more relevant.
