Hi

My mate wants me to install a new light fitting and sockets in his lounge. I have done a fair bit of electrical work in the past, but I do not have Part P.

All I want to do is replace like for like. i.e remove the old light fitting and replace with a newer modern one, similarly with the sockets. There will be no moving or rerouting of cables.

Do I legally need to have Part P for this???

I know exactly what I am doing but I am looking at the legal aspects.

No you don't need 'part P'. Replacements are not notifiable anywhere in the house (assuming the circuit is suitable).
