TiVo set to PCM mode audio there is no pal option stated.

Thanks Sam with your continued perseverance with me tonight and kind patience. The remote tv is now working perfectly and I've just set up a Marmitek infrared extender so I can now also have full control over the TiVo box from the kitchen. 
I would not have been able to get to the bottom of this without your help as your suggestions to check the PAL settings on the remote set proved great advice as I came across another setting which I had to chance too under the manual tuning menu.
