I've got two Visonic SR-730 PG2 sirens which I believe are just MCS-730 with a PG2 wireless module. Anyone know how to connect these units to AC?

The instructions aren't clear. Am I soldering the 9VAC feed to the AC IN (J4)?

Also, the instructions say "When external power is used, set the AC Enable (ON) / Disable (OFF) jumper to Enable position." I see no such jumper! I do see OPERATION MODE and LED KEEP ALIVE jumpers. Any ideas??

From the manual for your sounder

"Note: There are SR-730 PG2 model variations that are supplied with battery only, or, with battery and AC adaptor."

I would suggest you have the 'battery only' version for your sounder.

Also just soldering wires to the PCB where the correct connector for this job should be fitted is possibly a dangerous idea. You could possibly damage the sounder permanently as it's more than likely that other components are also need for this configuration.

PCBs are normally manufactured to be used in different configurations, therefore there will be missing components.

"Also, the instructions say "When external power is used, set the AC Enable (ON) / Disable (OFF) jumper to Enable position." I see no such jumper! I do see OPERATION MODE and LED KEEP ALIVE jumpers. Any ideas??"

Get the idea.

What I'm getting at is, don't try to alter it.

Thanks for the reply. I spoke to Visonic support and they confirmed only one option of siren for the PowerMaster range. No AC powered siren available for the UK market.

So, arguably, the documentation is wrong, which lead me to greatly exaggerated the level modification required to this off-the-shelf kit. Oh well, no problems being stuck with batteries only when the manual suggests an average of 8 years life....... :D We'll see I suppose
