Hi All
I ran VCDS on my golf and the following codes appeared. Please could you advise me on how to tackle these codes. Thanks in advance!

They may just be old stored codes. Have you cleared the faults and run the car? Does the MIL come on? Did the same faults reappear?

I would say its related to the glow plug module 1 problem (P0670) as it states the MIL is on (management light).
No idea what it relates too on the golf though, a quick google may help, may just be a faulty glow plug.

I reckon these codes are generic and apply to the fuel and exhaust system generally - does the glow plug light flash at all, and is the performance of the car affected?
John :)

Hi John

Glow plug light does not flash but is harder to start then normally! The Glow Plug symbol appears when ignition is on and then after a few seconds turns off. That is the point at which i try and start the car.

If it was a Glow plug issue would the ECU not identify the offending glow plug or cylinder? How can you tell if it is not a Glow Plus Relay or Harness problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated as there is not anything specific regards this on google.

What you need to do is to test each glow plug in turn just to see if they are ok.
Disconnect the glow plugs and check the resistance of each one with a multimeter.....the reading should be around 1 ohm and they should all be the same.
Then, using the volt scale on the meter, turn the ignition on and look for battery voltage on one plug.....you should see that for the duration that the glow plug lamp is lit up on the dash.
John :)

I just disconnect the glow plugs and using a test lamp connected to the positive side of the battery, check to see that it lights up when touched onto the glow plug thread.

Dear All

Thanks for the replies but are the Glow Plugs easy to remove? I have heard that they tend to shear of at the Nut end when trying to unscrew them?

Some can be but after testing, I always warm the engine up first if they need replacing.

Dear All

Voltage across each Glow plug was measured at 12.45V is this normal? Also changed glow plug control unit BUT MIL light still on even after resetting the codes.

That's the correct supply voltage.....did you check the resistance of each glow plug?
I suspect you have replaced the control unit unnecessarily but at least it rules it out!
John :)
