Waitrose, Sainsbury or Aldi?

Going to have to go out and get a supply of shopping today. My reasoning is that I will be less likely to catch anything from the type of customers that frequent Waitrose compared to those that march their whole family around Aldi. A neighbour with three kid shops at Aldi and despite government advice, they have a small stream of family, friends and tradesmen popping in and out of their house. Another neighbour who is strictly observing the government advice has deliveries from Ocado. Agree or disagree?

You only need one cough from a carrier, Mottie. You cannot spot the virally cleanest shop. Drive round and go in the quietest looking store, or recce the precautions the store has gone with. They will be better guides, not the snob value.

Don't think there's any brand loyalty at the moment. People are shopping wherever they can pick stuff up. I've found personally, Sains better recently, the people inside seem to (mainly) stick to the keeping away from each other rule, plus the store doesn't let too many people in. Tesco here people are ignoring the keep away rule once inside.

Staff matters too. Waitrose doesn't pay those self-isolating. So someone sick is more likely to go into work.

In my recent experience of this Lockdown shopping, it's the 60-something couples who are the worst now.
Arguing the toss with the person on the store entrance about them not being allowed in as a couple is common. It's like going around Aldi is a social event for the sad b sterds.

And yesterday, a older couple split up towards the front of the queue, took two trolleys, then meet up when inside. Apart from being selfish (reducing the number of people who need to go shopping, being able to actually get into the shop), it's pretty pathetic behaviour from those old enough to tut at others....

All agreed. Wifey is asthmatic so is banged up, but she's also a rules gal, so only one would go anyway. I've been off my property 3 times since 15th March, and try to obey all the rules. Am 63!

My daughter works in Tesco, she said that the people are fighting in the queue because they don't want to wait. Some people are special you know and shouldn't have to queue. The police made three arrests there on Monday and issued a fine to a woman who had ten bags of sand for her childrens' sandpit.

That could describe us, there again we shop for another three self isolators, its not always what it seems

I go Costco swing by if it looks busy I just drive to Sainsburys, Adda until I find one thats not too busy.

So shopping can take a few hours these days. I either wait in a queue or drive around.

In our area I've been avoiding the big stores if possible.
I've never seen more than about 5 people queuing at our local tesco express and they are pretty much back to normal stock wise, albeit their prices are a bit higher.
Other local stores including the Asian, Chinese and Eastern European ones seem to be stocked as usual and don't seem to have raised prices.
So still cheaper than Waitrose!

Booths for me, only letting a handful in, lots of stock & free newspapers at weekends
