How would i go about fitting a wall light??

need more info.

what kind of wall?
concrete floor or ceilings?
planning to redecorate?
local switching type or remote?

I may not be correct, people who know what they are on about please correct me but couldnt you take it from a lighting ceiling rose such as a loop in system?

If the ceiling rose is loop in, yes, but not all roses are.

We still need to know about building fabric, proposed siting and switching etc, and existing wiring type before we can even start to advise.

Cheers mate yeah i do im gettin used to the problems just dont answer them incase im wrong but tomorrow will be good being on site and doing real work.

It has ordinary brick internal wall, faced with plaster. Wooden floor, currently carpeted. Its in an upstairs room with a plaster ceiling, but the loft is boarded with tongue and groove flooring, so access from the floor, I will be redecorating the room.

The wall light has got a pull switch.

Do you know how the existing light in the room is currently wired?

First thing to do is track down a permanent live and neutral. This will either be at the switch, the light, a joint box in the loft....

Use the diagrams in the wiki to work out how your lights are currently wired, then we can give you the next step
