My Whirlpool washing machine keeps blowing the fuse when we press the power on button.

Any ideas where I should start to diagnose the problem? Is there something common which causes this?

Model No: AWM321
Code from back of machine: 8570 321 15611

Thanks

Al

Three favourites is motor, heater, door switch. first to check unplug motor conections. try switch on if still blows fuse mcb or rcd reconnect and unplug heater if still short circuit probably door interlock still a slight possibility pump faultyunplug to eliminate same as motor.

Changed the fuse in the plug.

It's not blowing any more.

Now, when you switch it on, the red power LED comes on, but nothing else happens. Turning the program dial doesn't do anything - no hums etc

I'll start with the door switch.

yes I would first of all suspect the door switch which has possibly gone short circuit to begin with hence blowing fuse and now has ended up open circuit now disabling the machine.
