Wasps

Twice we had wasps nests in the loft. We bought a can of stuff that you can spray from about 4 metres away, it comes out as a thin jet. Spray some on the nest and the wasps leave, it worked each time. (If you need the brand name I can probably find the tin.)
My mum had a nest in her loft last year and she phoned the council. They came out the next day and sprayed it and then removed it and she kept it to show us. It was fascinating. The council didn't charge her btw.

IIRC, wasps do not build a nest in the same place twice.

my local council charged me £30 to get rid of the nest we had - the wasps were getting in and coming through the floorboards into the 2 back bedrooms and I trod on one (ouch) so it was worth the money. Only took 2 minutes to spray them and it was over.
