Looking at putting a shower and basin into a small ensuite / vanity (no toilet) but the easiest route for waste water would be out the front of the 1902 built property in general rain water drainage - is this permissable? It is not effluent or hazardous and the property only has a single drain anyway.

Pretty sure a neighbouring property is doing the same but don't want to take it for granted that it is the right thing to do.

Cheers

If your sewer is an old single underground drain water and sewer, then that is absolutely fine to continue to have it that way.
But any alterations to your sewer you would need to go through your local building control.
My house is 1950 era and sewers are also combined with drainage.

Not sure what you mean by this, rainwater isn’t but wastewater is. If it’s a separate system (doubtful) then it absolutely can’t be discharged into rainwater but if partially combined or combined then it should be ok. If it’s just a rainwater onto the pavement, then again it can’t be done this way.

Edit: @ReJect beat me to it :)

"a single drain anyway" - do you mean a single waste drain, plus a separate soil pipe sewer drain?

how do you know where your rainwater is discharging to? assuming you've got a gulley, have you water tested from the down pipe gulley to the nearest manhole?

We put coloured dye in the rain water hopper and watched it pass through the same drain intersection that the foul pipe feeds into so we know the front and rear drains meet at some point and run into the same sewer.
