Watchdog tonight

The basic and un-dramatized facts about that cowboy electrician would bore the pants of most viewers.
Ditto undramatised dinner parties, undramatised buying of foreign property, undramatised searching for trainee employees, undramatised baking of cakes...

The list is virtually endless. The TV companies treat their audiences with utter contempt and condescension, and do not believe that they have any intelligence or discernment whatsoever.

In the progamme, I couldn't understand why Derek went to the trouble of removing the single back box which served the igniter, then replaced it for a double.

Surely it would have been easier to put the double next to the single.

The expert went spare that the fused spur was removed, as he claimed the igniter didn't have fuse protection - but one has to wonder if that switched fused spur was controlling a single socket somewhere with the ignitor plugged in.

If he was simply going to replace the FCU for a double socket, he could have saved himself some aggro and bought a Converta socket.

As regards to that metal cut out during the CU change, is it correct these are often not earthed?

I wonder how many consumer units are replaced without inspecting all the wiring in the house?
