Water hammer on shared main

Anyone had success finding a cure for this. Water hammer is hard enough to find if in your own home, never mind if coming for another house on a shared main. Is about 10 houses on it.

Have look at the possibility of fitting a water hammer arrestor

It'll be a valve/tap/stopcock needing looked at somewhere. Whereabouts is another question...

Thanks yes I have ruled my house out. But finding the problem source when there is 10 houses on the row could be problematic

The area is really high pressure 10 bar. I rang the water board about the issue they said I was in a low pressure area. That I'm running at 2 bar.

How do you know that its not your house?
How did you measure the 10 Bars, what make/type of gauge?

mate suffered this every time neighbour used tap fitted simple shock arrestor straight after stop cock and it solved it

I have turned the stop tap of and let water out still get the sound. Still get the sound in another house on the supply with my stop tap off.
I put a monument gauge on my washing machine tap.

Our local W/B used to have a chap that went round with a long pole with an ear cup on the end. He used to touch it on to the external stopcock of each house along the street and listen until he found a leak. Perhaps that might help you if the problem did show up during the day. You might look suspicious at night though.
