I have this on the colD tap going in to the bath, looks like some kinD of water filter, any iDeas what it is an what it Does

That looks like a pressure reducing valve.Any other lettering on it?

yeh its a caleffi pressure reducing valve.

without stating the obvious why woulD one be fitteD? why woulD you reuce the pressure, its on a gravity system going into a mixer shower, to balance it out?

shoul say the system is a gravity system, the colD tap is from the colD main.
