Hi all,

My house has weep vents a couple of inches above ground level every metre or so. Some of the vents have inserts, some do not have inserts and some of the vents have plastic inserts that have come halfway out which cannot be pushed back in.

My question is whether I can retrofit plastic inserts or some other kind of insert. I cannot push the full length inserts back in so perhaps I should be looking at some other kind of insert?

I am trying to keep mice out of the house.

Thanks.

im no pest controller but im pretty sure a mouse couldnt fit thru a weep hole
most builders merchants stock weep holes of different types so yes you can plug out the joint or even better drill it out and fit replacements.

Mate that's not a standard sized weep hole and unless my eyes deceive me that video was showing a wooden panel with mastic joints between them.
If you want to spend your money and time on this good luck to you.
Have you been watching Stuart little by any chance?

Fair point. However the mice are getting in from somewhere so I guess it can't harm to fill in the vents. If I still see them after that then I will investigate further.

There's vents you can get that have a hole the size of a biro head in them if your going to do anything swap them rather than seal them
As for the mice get yourself a ferret they'll soon do 1 when they pick up its scent.
