Well done wind

Nearly £97.00 per mega watt this year and rising over the last two or three years. Yes wind energy is good however it doesn't always work out that cheap. The way the energy is priced should be looked into.
JD never mentiones when we are paying more than £250.00 per mega watt
National Grid: Live
It shows current and past prices and energy use

In what way??
Using and burning less fossil fuels, which we mostly buy from foreign suppliers, and which damage the atmosphere.

The money you pay for wind power mostly stays in the country.

When we have a nationally-owned power company, maybe it all will.

…….all this faux concern from someone that claimed they made 'a hundred trips a year' to London to visit friends and family when they were living in Greenock. Dunno about wind power but JohnD changes his mind like the wind when he has a post in a thread he wants to attempt to validate.

Good to see we have energy sources unaffected by Trump and Putin

And just now, Solar is providing another 24%

Pretty good for October.

Saturday night wind power approx 69 per cent .cost approx £158 per mega watt. Nearly 3 times the price that we paid for in the past.
Well done wind

There was mega solar farm just permitted by a government inspector, I believe it was in East Anglia. The reports I saw show the sheer fury of the re form voting locals who opposed it. We have to get used to them like we did canals, railways, pylons and Harlow

The wind, and the people who built and operate the wind farms, are not responsible for that, and do not benefit from it.

The wind farms have a contract price, usually remarkably low, for the energy they provide.

When the market price is higher than the contract price they agreed, the wind farm must pay 100% of that excess revenue back to a government-owned entity called the Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC).

The LCCC takes these multi-million-pound repayments and redistributes them directly back to electricity suppliers. Under regulatory rules, these savings are passed onto businesses and households, acting as a buffer or reduction on your electricity bill.

I am willing to believe that the contract and pricing process can be improved.
