I bought an old(ish) Westwood Gazelle sit-on lawnmower. 
It does a great job but is let down by the fact that the only way it will start is by jump starting it from my car.
There does not appear to be much to the wiring so I was wondering if anyone out there has a similar model.
I can see that two wires (a white and a red) come from what I presume will be a dynamo on the engine. The red goes via the ignition switch to a terminal on an electrical device bolted to the inside of the body work. Off this terminal is the positive cable to the battery. The other terminal has a brown cable coming off it which may be the negative.
The white wire is not plugged into anything and looks a bit unhealthy in that it looks like it may have overheated at some point.
Any advice welcome!!
