I am having an extension built and yesterday the brickie laid a few metres of cavity wall approx 1500mm high and filled it with rockwool insulation (I call it rockwool - wool/fibre stuff).

They finished for the day and it has been torrentially raining ever since so the insulation is now soaked which seems pretty stupid.

Should they have covered it up?

Probably should have done if they knew it was likely to rain and given it’s December, but I’ve been building mine for 2 years and at times it’s been exposed with covering blown off by the wind/unexpected downpours. Unlikely to be a major issue, that insulation can survive being wet.

let's hope the mortar doesn't get washed out.

When the roof goes on, those walls will take a very long time to dry out.

Thanks for the replies. I'll let you know what happens on Monday when I tell them to replace the soaked insulation!!

Joking, but I will have a word with their guvnor as it seems pretty shoddy.
