What am I doing wrong with masonry drill?

Hey guys,

I am trying to drill in some small 5mm holes to this old masonry wall in France - trying to fit supports for a bit of pex piping. I'm really struggling as the mortar just crumbles and the stones seem insanely resistant. Do you have any recommendations for what drill bits or pex supports that might work differently? I have to pick the stone as the mortar crumbles easily. I guess it is granite as we're in northern France but I'm not 100%.

Is it an sds drill?

You need an SDS drill and new, sharp bits.
