Im absolutely out of this topic. I need a new stove for my weekend cottage, it seems so many brands are on web. Any experiences or recommendations for a good value brand? Thankssss. I would like to have a stove for wood.

You need to be aware that installing a stove is controlled building work, subject to several building regulations, test & certification. No compliance certificate could give you problems when you come to sell & may invalidate your house insurance in the event of a problem.

I've got a Firefox (as in the web browser) 5 and it's been a little belter. My advice is (1) get one with a big window in it (2) actually go to a showroom and look at stoves in the flesh - it's one of the few times where pictures on the internet haven't been as helpful as I thought

Re fitting it yourself, indemnity insurance for the vendor?

You can DIY a stove install but you need to understand the Building Regs (which changed in October 2010), submit a Building Notice & pay a fee. Your LABC will inspect &, assuming everything is OK, issue a compliance certificate; the BI may want to witness smoke & spillage tests.

Indemnity insurance only covers LABC enforcement; it won’t make the install compliant or legal, won’t be accepted by an insurance company if your house burns down & wont do the OP or any vendor much good when they are lying on a mortuary slab after being asphyxiated by carbon monoxide. ;)

The question is very much like the one "Which boiler should I buy?" each person will have his own view as the stove that they have meets their criteria and they will be very happy with their choice...

i contacted some company to calculate stove installing and all these works around, they said 5000 pounds! God. I have an old fireplace that just needs to be (completely) rebuilt. chimney is working, just to choose new stove or fireplace and to instal it.
