What causes kettle fuses to blow?

Just had as major panic - the kettle stopped working!

But just a blown fuse. But.. why would that happen? Sign of kettle fault? Electrics all good and new.

One end of the fuse holder was loose and so overheated.

Looks mostly like a faulty plug/termination. As Andy says 'change the plug' gets my vote.
