Currently testing a industrial installation probabily about 35 years old in bit of a mess! Wonder what code you think to put this items as?

1. Where armouring of a SWA is used as the CPC and no banjo or piranha nut is fitted to the gland? (Just a good tight nut connection)

is there a core for the cpc also? if not, how is the cpc or earthing of armour reliably connected to the MET. What is the material of enclosure that the swa is glanded to?

As long as the enclosure the gland is connected to is affording good continuity....

As long as low ohms continuity is ok between the SWA and the earth terminal of what it's terminated into, and the Zs is ok, then no problem at all.

Visual inspection is as important as low ohms though

1) Is the gland tight and secure in the enclosure
2) Does it look like there is sufficient metal to metal contact / paint removed
3 ) Is the gland to a part of the enclosure that has got a sound earth path itself?.. often there is a removal gland plate that has little metal to metal contact with the rest of the enclosure due to the power coating, and continuity is through 6 or 8 poxy self tapping screws. It wouldn't be the first time that I've seen a gland plate with no earth continuity at all.

It all harks back to those old high-current testers I used to use on the conduit runs to check for pukka joints...and the sizzling noises indicating a bad joint!
