What do you call the sleeve that's fitted to plastic pipe?

I need to fit a 22mm compression elbow to a 3/4" (21.3mm outside diameter) black plastic mains pipe.

I have some 3/4" olives to suit the imperial pipe so that I can use a 22mm compression fitting, but where can I buy the sleeve to prevent the pipe collapsing/deforming as the fitting's tightened? Is it actually called a sleeve?

Plumbers Merchant, their called pipe inserts.

Bring a piece of pipe with you to match up the insert.

Is there a particular reason I shouldn't use an isolating valve rather than a stop-cock for an under-sink mains house supply? I'm very tight on space and a stopcock handle is close to unusable.

Isolation valves sometimes leak on the centre turn slot, use the lever valve.

It will be a lot easier to turn off and will be full bore.
