What happened to polyfilla plug it?

I used to use this stuff all the time…a sort of strip of putty that you can knead and push into a hole then it sets hard and you can screw into it. Don’t think you can get it any more? Is there anything else similar?
 
Didn't one of those "fill it and drill it" type compounds have asbestos in?
 
Evo Plumbers Mait Quick Repair putty sets hard. Don't confuse with normal Plumbers Mait which doesn't.

Yes, Rawlplastic. However that's not been made for many decades.

I remember my dad using that stuff: it came with an L shaped rod one end for tamping and the other a spike to start the hole. I remeber it being very fibrous:dad used to mix it on his hand.
 
This isn’t going that far back though, I’m sure it’s not asbestos or anything dodgy, I’ve still got some in my tool box so they can only have stopped it a few years ago. I just can’t work out why they would discontinue it when it’s so useful!
